THE LION'S TOWER
After El-Mina harbour, a large avenue lined with cabinetmaking workshops leads to the famous Lions Tower (Es-Sba Borj). Located not far from the old railway, between El Mina and the mouth of the Nahr Abu Ali River, this fortress - of mamelouke origin - was built in 1441-1442 to monitor the coastline and to prevent any Turkish offensive. The imposing rectangular building, which presents itself as one of the most interesting military mameluk of the coast, could have been built by Sultan Qalt Bey. The exterior walls, made up of embossed, are reinforced by columns of columns from the ancient city.
Near the Tower of the Lions, lies the old railway station in Tripoli. We can still see locomotives from the end of the th century and a multitude of end-of-life cars. The site is normally prohibited from access. We must just look at it from the road.
