THE TEMPLES OF SFIRÉ
The site is more known as Qalat el Hosn, the castle of the citadel. There are 3 temples. Access to this site is not easy. You must be a fan of Roman temples! Nevertheless, travel is worth a detour: the site is still well preserved and the landscapes are remarkable. The first temple dates from the th century. It is one of the best preserved temples in Lebanon. Its architecture is very simple. It is intact to the level of the corniche. The roof and the pediment have disappeared. Its facade is striking with three doors. The left is opened on an inner staircase dug in the thickness of the wall and leading to the terrace. On the right, the second temple preserved its enclosure and 4 Doric columns. On the exterior wall, a Greek inscription is distinguished. In the anterior part of the temple in the axis of the entrance, the remains of the sacrifice are noticed. Perpendicular to the great temple, there is a third temple, smaller. A square structure is also a bit higher and dominates the previous temples mentioned.
