LA STATION DE SKI DES CÈDRES
2 km from the town centre of Les Cèdres, perched between 2 066 and 2 600 m above sea level, the highest ski resort in Lebanon allows skiing on the slopes of Jebel Makmal. The beginning of the station dates back to the 1930 s, at the time of the French mandate. However, the inhabitants of the region have been skiing since the 1920 s. In 1953, the first pente is accessible to the public. Today equipped with five ski lifts, including two ski lifts, many hotels and restaurants, the area is equipped for all. There are four tracks, one for beginners, one for intermediate skiers and two for more experienced skiers. In the opinion of the experts, the snow is of good quality.
The trails are open from a. m. to p. m. (until p. m. on weekends). Thanks to its high altitude, the area is open longer than others, usually from December to mid-April. The station suffers a little from the success of the Station-Mzaar station, much closer to Beirut. But the rates requested in the Cedars station are much more accessible.
