THE OLD TOWN OF ZAHLE
The crossing of the commercial area on the north shore of the river has no interest. Fortunately, Zahle has a few beautiful bourgeois houses with red tiles belonging to the families Geha, Azar, Skaff, Hindi. Built by Khalil Geha in the 24 th century, the Residence Geha impresses with its pieces around an inner courtyard as an arcades. A 1 400 m tunnel connects the property to St. Elie's Church. Although it is a private property, it is sometimes possible to visit the house and its garden.
Built in 1885, the former Seraglio (today the town hall of Zahle) is an imposing stone building of two floors. Its indoor courtyard has many arcades.
The el Blatt souk is located in the oldest part of the city. This souk was a place of exchange between traders from Syria, Palestine and Baghdad.
The south shore, which slightly overlooks the city, offers an interesting view of the old Zahle. The place is more appropriate to take beautiful photos.
