Organized in summer in the enclosure of the Roman ruins of Baalbek around the temples of Bacchus and Jupiter, the International Festival is an essential event in Lebanese and regional cultural life. With the civil war, the festival was stopped until 1995. After two years of absence in 2006 and 2007, the organizers relaunched the festival in 2008. Due to its geographical location, it may be relocated or even cancelled if the security situation is too tense. In 2019, the festival welcomed the immense Marcel Khalife.
