LAKE QARAOUN
After having exceeded the cellars of Kéfraya, there is nothing like walking along the banks of Lake Qaraoun, the water of a surface area of 11 km ² built in 1959 on the Litani River along the Lebanese border. Beware, bathing is not recommended. The arrival on the lake is superb: The bluish colours go along together with the mountain chains that appear on the horizon. At the south end of the lake, the dam (60 m high and 1 350 m long) is impressive. It is primarily intended to irrigate the Bekaa plain and the plains of Southern Lebanon.
