LEBANESE MOUNTAIN MOSQUE
In the west is the oldest mosque in the Lebanese Mountain (1493) built by Fakhreddine I - the first Amir of the Ma'an dynasty - to use Muslim mercenaries, sent by the Turkish sultan to support him. Unlike other mosques whose minaret is generally rounded, his is octagonal. Inscriptions on the facades mention the name of the Amir, the date of construction and three verses of the Koran. You can visit it. It is necessary to déchausser at the entrance and cover a headscarf intended for this purpose.
Behind the mosque, you will notice the old leather market and another souk (from the 38 th) that brought together up to workshops for cobblers. Now restored, it houses a few shops of artisans.
