CHURCH OF SAÏDET-EL-TALLÉ, NOTRE-DAME-DE-LA-COLLINE
At the end of the palace, a kiosk, entirely covered with polychrome woodwork, offers a unobstructed view of the valley and the church recently restored and dedicated to the Virgin. A Virgin that was revered for centuries by both Druze and Christians, now close ties between the two communities. It was built in 451 at the location of an Phoenician temple dedicated to Astarté. Destroyed by an earthquake in 859, it was rebuilt in the th century. The Maronite today celebrates every year - the first Sunday in August - a feast in honour of the Holy Virgin that transforms Deir el-Qamar into a great place of pilgrimage. Inside the church, in the room of the Holy Virgin, you can see a painting with the Virgin. In the past, it was said that it was doing miracles. On the occasion of the pilgrimage, the painting is circulated throughout the village. Other paintings indicate the miracles of the Holy Virgin within the baptistery.
