THE FIGURES OF QANA
A historic place where Christ, invited to a wedding feast, changed water in wine. At the entrance to the village, follow a sign indicating the location of the figurines in Qana. Adjacent to the sumptuous villa of a doctor from the village, the site was the subject of a vast landscaping plan carried out in 2000 by Lebanese landscape Architect Frédéric Francis, including a car park for buses and cars, public toilets and rest spaces. It is so rare in Lebanon that it should be pointed out. The site dominates an arid vallon and a wild quarry.
On the rocks, several rows of characters are carved in a primitive style. One of them represents 13 people who have been assigned to Christ and his followers. They date back to the Hellenistic period or the beginning of the Roman era. At the bottom of the site is a small cave that was burned by the Israeli army. Today, a place of worship for Christians in the village. According to the New Testament, Qana is the site of the first miracle made by Christ. Qana is often confused with the Israeli village in Kafr Qana. However, according to the th century historian Eusebian, the village of Qana mentioned in the Gospels was close to Saida, thereby discrediting the thesis of Kafr Qana.
