CATTEDRALE SAN GIOVANNI BATTISTA
The Cathedral of Turin holds within its walls one of the most famous relics in the world: the Holy Shroud.
The cathedral was built in honour of St. John the Baptist, patron saint of Turin, between 1491 and 1498. In the 17th century, the chapel of the Holy Shroud was added, where the mysterious shroud, protected inside a fireproof box and visible only during ostensions, is kept. Clad in white marble, the facade of the Duomo stands out in the urban landscape. Three elegant portals give access to a Latin cross structure with three naves and Gothic decorative elements.
