MONTE DEI CAPPUCCINI - CHIESA SANTA MARIA AL MONTE
Monastery converted into a residence for monks, with panoramic views over Turin.
For a panoramic view of Turin, there's nothing better than climbing 283 meters to the lookout point of the Monte dei Cappuccini monastery. A former medieval fortress, this monastery was transformed into a residence for Capuchin monks in the 16th century. At the same time, in 1584 to be precise, plans were drawn up for the construction of the church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It was completed in 1637. It has a central Greek cross plan, topped by an octagonal drum dome.
