ROYAL LIBRARY
Among its countless riches, thirteen drawings by the master Leonardo da Vinci, including his famous Self-portrait in red chalk.
Located in the right wing of the Royal Palace, this library, created by Charles-Albert in 1831, preserves more than 18,000 rare books and 4,000 manuscripts from the 15th and 16th centuries and retraces the history of the State of Savoy. But the real gem of the collection is a collection of thirteen drawings by Leonardo da Vinci, including his famous Self-portrait in sanguine (visible only during temporary exhibitions) and the Codex of the Flight of the Birds. Also noteworthy are the collections of sketches by Raphael, Tiepolo, Rembrandt and Van Dyck.
