MAUTO - MUSEO NAZIONALE DELL'AUTOMOBILE
Museum with a gallery of classic cars with 200 Italian and foreign models.
As a beautiful gift to celebrate the anniversary of Italian Unity, the city of Turin reopened in 2011, with great fanfare, this National Automobile Museum, greatly desired in the 1960s by the Turin aristocrat Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia. The somewhat austere exterior of this large hemicycle-shaped building on the banks of the Po River is quickly forgotten when you enter the building and admire the beautiful interior design. This spectacle is not surprising when you consider that the creation of the presentation of this museum was entrusted to François Confino, the man already responsible for the scenography of the National Museum of Cinema which occupies the Mole Antonelliana! Here, the incredible epic of the automobile, in the Italian capital of the car, is magnificently traced and one can travel through more than two centuries of history through about 200 Italian and foreign models that have marked the evolution of the car and the automobile industry, from the very first trials of wind and steam cars in the 18th century to the Ferrari Formula 1... In the classic car gallery you can see the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint of 1954, for example, and many other incarnations of absolute car glamour! The museum is therefore far from being reserved for an adult and male public, it will really enchant the whole family... The museum's library is also very well stocked.
