MUSEO NAZIONALE DEL CINEMA
Museum of Cinema with a panoramic staircase-balcony offering interesting themed exhibitions.
The Museum of Cinema is the most spectacular and scenographic museum in the city, and perhaps even in Italy. Here, everything prepares you for a real journey through the world of the 7th art. First of all, its showcase, the Mole Antonelliana, symbol of Turin from the height of its 167 m. Designed in 1862 as a synagogue, with its high spire and grandiose volumes, this building has been suitable for its new use since 2000. Then its spaces: a spectacular and vertical set of several floors linked together by a panoramic staircase and balcony, which takes you through the history of cinema from its origins to the present day. The visit of the museum begins with the first studies on optics in the 17th century, followed by interesting thematic exhibitions such as shadow theatre, optical boxes, Chinese lanterns and photography. The visit continues with a phenomenal exhibition of historical posters such as La Dolce vita, Vacanze romane and Orange mécanique. We marvel at the authentic Fellini manuscripts, Liz Taylor's dresses and Charlie Chaplin's bowler hat. But the most sensational room is the Hall of the Temple, through which the great panoramic lift climbs to the top of the Mole and where the golden idol Moloch, the remnant of the first colossal film in history, Cabiria (1914), is enthroned. You then lie down on comfortable loungers, put on your headphones and let yourself be carried away for hours watching film clips.

a voir.
