Arches of the aquaduct presenting a pagan altar for sacrifices
The arches of the aqueduct, which remained linked to the castle walls, served as an additional defence structure in the Middle Ages. The two limestone arches take their name from an inscription that referred to the "Gratian Baths", restored between 375 and 378 by this emperor. At the base of the pillars, one will notice cups dug into the stone which indicate that the place was probably used as a pagan altar for sacrifices.
