PARCO NATURALE DEL GRAN BOSCO DI SALBERTRAND
Natural park offering numerous trails and detailed hiking itineraries
The visitor center will provide you with detailed hiking itineraries. The vegetation changes with altitude: down below is the latifolia forest, with ash, alder, birch and beech, and up above the conifers, with Scots pine, red fir, white fir, larch and cembro pine. Above the tree belt, shrubs such as mugho pine bushes, junipers and rhododendrons. The fauna is well represented: deer, mouflons, roe deer, alpine chamois and, more recently, wolves. In spring, marmots can be seen in the alpine meadows, while predators include ermines and badgers, and birds include black grouse, ring-necked blackbirds, bartavelles and great horned owls.
