STRONG DI BRAMAFAM
First-rate military fortification completely restored, housing a museum.
This first-rate military fortification, built between 1874 and 1889, was constructed on the heights of Bardonecchia to defend the Turin-Modane railway and the Fréjus railway tunnel against potential attacks from the French side. The fort retained its defensive role until the Second World War, when it became the headquarters of the 516th Battery of the Border Guard. Abandoned in 1945, the fort was fully restored in 1995 and now houses a museum that accurately reconstructs military life there.
