TUR D'AMUN
Castle with a tower with signs to guide the visitor
The Tur d'Amun, above Bardonecchia, dates back to the 12th century. Thanks to its strategic position, the castle controlled the exits of the two valleys of the Fréjus and the Rho and was in visible communication with the castle of Bramafam. Abandoned from the 18th century onwards, the castle and its tower gradually fell into ruin. In the 1990s, the municipality of Bardonecchia began the rehabilitation of the site. Today panels guide the visitor through the remains to discover the remains of the keep, the fortified ramparts and part of the tower.
