CHIESA DI SAN LORENZO DE TRAVERSES
Small church in the hamlet of Traverses with a 17th century painting.
This church in the hamlet of Traverses already existed in 1494. From 1560 to 1684, it was used as a temple by the Vaudois, then rebuilt on the orders of Louis XIV. The sober exterior contrasts with the interior. In the apse, an 18th-century painting by Dufour (who also produced the lilies, symbols of the French monarchy) shows Saint Laurent at the foot of the Cross. Facing it is a 17th-century painting of the Virgin Mary, St. Dominic and St. Catherine of Siena, framed by the 15 mysteries.
