SAINT-OURS COMPLEX
A remarkable complex in Aosta, a masterpiece of Romanesque and Gothic art.
This complex, a masterpiece of medieval art, is considered one of the most significant examples of Romanesque religious sculpture in the valley. The collegiate church preserves carved wooden stalls in the choir and underneath a crypt supported by 12 ancient columns. Not to be missed are the superb Ottonian frescoes (under the roof) and the rich treasure. The Romanesque cloister (1133) is exceptional. Its colonnade is topped by 52 white marble capitals, entirely sculpted. Also worth seeing, the campanile (12th-15th centuries) and the Renaissance priory.
