Mountaineering routes on Mont Blanc are almost endless, but very difficult indeed. The Italian side is steeper than the side overlooking Chamonix. The best-known routes on the Valle d'Aosta side are the normal route to Mont-Blanc via the Gonella hut, the Mont-Blanc from Courmayeur via the Peutereys ridge, 2-3 days with bivouacs on the wall, and the ascent of the Grandes-Jorasses peaks via the Boccalatte hut. Simpler itineraries: Aiguille de la Toule and Aiguille du Midi.
