DUC DES ABRUZZES ALPINE MUSEUM
Museum tracing the history of the alpine guides of Courmayeur and the mountaineers in the Aosta Valley.
Opened in 1929, this museum traces the history of the Alpine guides through fantastic collections of costumes and mountaineering equipment, not to mention the many documents, models, old photographs and other memorabilia belonging to Courmayeur's Alpine guides. The museum's namesake, the Duke of Abruzzo, was Louis-Amédée de Savoie, the great mountaineer and polar explorer who conceived the idea for this highly instructive museum.
