SAINT-OURS CHURCH
Church preserving precious altars of the XVIIIth century in Cogne.
The parish is under the protection of St. Ours, a 6th-century Irish priest who, according to popular tradition, improved the originally inhospitable surroundings. The building's current appearance dates back to 1642. The bell tower dates from 1840, after the old one was knocked down due to stability problems. The church has a Latin cross base and a single nave interior (redecorated by the painter Pirlato in 1960). The church features precious18th-century altars in carved and gilded wood, with twisted columns.
