PRÉS DE SAINT-OURS
A vast pasture covering the area between Cogne and Valnontey.
It's unusual to see such vast pastures (around 50 hectares) so close to inhabited areas. The Saint-Ours meadows cover the area between Cogne and Valnontey. They are populated by cows throughout the summer months, and it's not uncommon to witness what are known here as "queen battles". In winter, on the other hand, the whitened expanse becomes the core of the complex system of cross-country ski trails. The Grand-Paradis massif in the background helps to give the place an even more extraordinary ambience.
