Lombardy's main railway hub, the station is just a few metro stops from the historic center. It is widely recognized for its history and architecture: the grandiose mass of the central station (207 meters long) was solemnly inaugurated on May 15, 1931. A triumph of Mussolinian neoclassicism, its walls are adorned with reliefs and statues embodying the symbolism of the regime. Restored between 2005 and 2010, it is Italy's second-largest railway station, with trains to most of the country's major cities.

big but a bit chaotic
it is not well organised; for example I always doubt which is the best way to go from the metro to take a train and viceversa. The shops and restaurants are nmany but spread around between three or four floors.
