Founded in 1967, it is the only poison control center in Italy certified by the American Association of Poison Control Centers. It has an emergency telephone consultation service and also treats patients directly at the Niguarda Ca' Granda hospital. The center is equipped with a toxicological register of potentially toxic substances, and participates in education and training on toxicological disaster management. It also monitors the clinical evolution of significant or rare cases of toxic agents such as fungi, vipers, pesticides and industrial chemicals.
