CHIESA DI SAN MARCO
Church built in 1254 preserving important frescoes in Milan.
Built in 1254, after the destruction of the city ordered by Frederick Barbarossa and in gratitude to the Venetians who had supported the Milanese in their fight against the emperor, this church had among its faithful Martin Luther. Endowed with excellent acoustics, it has seen Mozart and Verdi perform and still hosts concerts today. It preserves important frescoes, one of which, attributed to the school of Leonardo da Vinci, represents a Madonna with the Child Jesus and St. John; at the back of the nave, a beautiful 18th century paper crib.
