Masterpiece of the Lombard Renaissance, built in 1396 in Como.

The cathedral is a masterpiece of the Lombard Renaissance. Its construction began in 1396 and was completed in the first half of the 18th century. Its remarkable facade (1484), work of the Rodari brothers, especially the northern portal called "della rana" because of the frog (the rana) represented on a pilaster, is a wonderful expression of Renaissance virtuosism. Inside you can admire paintings by Luini and Gaudenzio Ferrari as well as nine sixteenth-century Flemish tapestries and a superb five-body organ.

BEl édifice. Malheureusement je n’ai pas pu y rentrer mais la façade extérieure, sa simplicité et sa sobriété donnent envie de voir à quoi elle ressemble à l´interieur.

Cathédrale gratuite (donations acceptées), belle extérieurement avec ses nombreuses statues (voir photo) et jeux de couleurs, et intéressante à l'intérieur avec beaucoup de décorations. Parfois il y a un enterrement...revenez plus tard dans la journée !
