VILLA MYLIUS VIGONI
Villa and museum framed by a huge English park in Menaggio.
In 1829 Mylius Vigoni bought a villa on the "heights" of Menaggio. Over time, he enlarged it and embellished it with a rich collection of paintings, statues and precious knick-knacks. This villa became a kind of museum, preserved until today. An immense English-style park surrounds the villa. Orchids, secular trees, panoramic angles, exotic species make it a place of rare beauty. A neoclassical temple, with masterpieces by Thorvalsen and Marchesi, stands on the hill, in memory of Giulio, the only son of Enrico Mylius.
