CAVE DI CATTULLO
Villa in a beautiful site, surrounded by olive trees with view on the lake, in Sirmione.
Surrounded by olive trees, in a beautiful site with a view of the lake, this villa would have belonged to the famous Roman Catullus, who died in 54 BC. Several sources attest that the poet had a residence here, however the attribution of this one in particular remains purely hypothetical. Because of its vast dimensions, it is the most grandiose example of a private villa of ancient Rome in northern Italy. At the entrance to the site, a small museum presents the archaeological remains, while another part of the collections traces the geological history of the lake.

Assez peu de monde lorsque nous y sommes allés, les ruines avec vue sur le lac sont très belles !!
