PUEZ - ODLE NATURE PARK
Natural park in Siusi, a beautiful address for lovers of fauna and flora.
The Puez-Odle Nature Park is a delight for lovers of flora and fauna. Thick forests of fir trees, stone pines and solid larches alternate with lush alpine meadows and green alpine meadows which, in the spring, are covered with crocuses, solanella and anemones.
The park encompasses the Odle mountains and the Gardenaccia high plateau on the Puez massif. The Odle Mountains look like fingers of rock. The park has peaks of almost 3,000 metres, to the southwest the Furchetta and Sass Rigais and to the southeast the Piz de Puez. There are many well-marked hiking trails. A hike up to the Stevia Arch reveals a spectacular 25-metre-high erosive phenomenon that has created this life-size natural sculpture.
Higher up, the edelweiss, an increasingly rare emblem of the Alps, also blooms. The park is home to numerous animal species that roam freely in the woods, meadows and skies. Here, the golden eagle reigns supreme while the falcon flies over the treetops and peaks, home to ibex and chamois. The woods are home to marmots, foxes and deer that sometimes sneak across the footpaths in the heart of the woods and valleys. This is the perfect place to enjoy the benefits of nature, to be at one with a region that strives to preserve its fauna and flora. Here, the protection of the environment has been a primary concern for several generations.
