At the beginning of the 21st century, a project was launched to put streetcars(tramvia in Italian) back into circulation in Florence. Three lines were planned and, since 2011, T1 has been in operation, linking Scandicci to Santa Maria Novella via via de Andre, parco delle Cascine, piazza Vittorio Veneto and via Alamanni. Since 2019, the long-awaited line no. 2 has been in service, linking the airport to the city center in 20 minutes. The twelve stops include San Donato Università, Rosselli (SMN station), Alamanni Stazione and piazza dell'Unità. Line T3 is still under construction.
