From a food snob.

Nothing short of immaculate
This dining experience changed me

Get the tasting menu and trust it all even if something scares you.

Che Esperienza Spettacolare! Mercoledi 24 gennaio 2024..

Complimenti.

A national building purchased by Giorgio Pinchiorri in 1972 Enoteca Pinchiorri carries all the excesses one might expect from a Michelin 3* Restaurant, from the 16 page Water menu to a €1950 3-Wine pairing and housemade Breads matching each course.

Currently toqued by Riccardo Monco while Maître D Alessandro Tomberli directs gratuitously accommodating service it is atop plush seats that diners are invited to dine a la carte or as a €310 degustazione, the latter served at a pace accommodating those who eat both slow and fast.

An opulent space filled with oil paintings and flowers, all of it mirrored by grandiose plates full of color, it is after selecting beverages that Canapes arrive as a rainbow of textures and flavors including a Squid Ink Beignet and Black Cabbage Tartelette with Quinoa.

Cherished by oenophiles thanks to Pinchiorri’s extensive cellar, though a few bargains can also be found, late-Winter’s tasting began with a warm Oyster perfumed by Laurels before progressing through a thin piece or Squid atop Uni and sheeted Pasta with White Pheasant Ragout plus earthy Bechamel.

Frequently veering far from Italy for Ingredients as well as inspiration, and thereby stripping away some of the ‘terroir’ that makes many eateries of Enoteca Pinchiorri’s caliber unique, Sauteed Snails in a Mousse of Sunchoke is nonetheless delicious while Turbot is unfortunately lost beneath all the ingredients on top.

Increasingly complex with Duck Breast bathed in Passion Fruit alongside creamy Foie Gras the latter half of the menu is highlighted by a “Cheese Course” featuring Polenta plus Castelmagno while Desserts are elegant and enjoyable but “Italian” in no way.

Declining the Cheese Cart, but not an impressive collection of Mignardises, it was after a thirty minute wait that the check arrived with a take-home gift and thanks, though no lasting impact as this sort of Food can be found at many Michelin 2* or 3* establishments nowadays.

I walked into this meal with an open mind after reading various mixed reviews, and feel compelled to write my own. For context, I've travelled globally for work for the last 30 years and like to think I have a balanced perspective of what is good and what is a value, premium or a luxury offering. So let's break it down

Atmosphere - sterile and boring. Lighting it far too bright and chatter or opportunity to interact with other diners is very subdued. On a side note a we had a couple sitting next to us who were on 1st name basis with management. The wife chose to answer her loud ringing phone during dinner and engage in a loud conversation. I call this out as clearly the restaurant either has mixed standards for fine dining or money is a motivating factor.

Service - I'd rate it as on par with a 2-3 star restaurant, this was the highlight.

Food - this is where everything falls down. We selected the tasting menu and there was a single dish that we thought excellent, everything else was blah. Every dish lacked texture, making us wonder if the food was prepared for babies. I'd rate many Non Michelin and 1-2 star restaurants well above Enoteca for excellent/inspired food. How this place achieves 3 stars is beyond me. During our trip we experienced two examples that I'd rate well above.

Wine Pairing - maybe there was a language barrier, we felt it lacked inspiration and no attempt was made to explain why they matched certain wines. On the plus side, they don't charge by the glass but instead by the number wines you select, and they proactively refill your glass. This element is pretty good value.

Cost - we did not experience the upsell pressure others speak off, but for what we enjoyed...yeah I agree there is little justification for the price

At the end of the day, I'd encourage readers of this review to skip and explore many other options for a great meal and experience.

Enoteca Pinchiorri esperienza unica e grande bellezza.

Esperienza unica marchiata 3 stelle Michelin , Enoteca Pinchiorri.

They treat women like second class citizens here. Do not go. Undeserving of any Michelin Stars. Zero.

Horrible and rude staff. Avoid this restaurant. Maybe they are nicer to Italians but they don't deserve 3 stars

Matteo e Anna

My partner and I frequently go to amazing Michelin restaurants and the food was astoundingly delicious.

Atmosphere however was very sterile adding to an uncomfortable feeling. Some staff are a little stuffy and didn't feel welcome at parts. The head waiter was a delight though!

Wine choice is just expensive rather than intelligently sourced and special. No real recommendations given. Really missing a trick on exposing amazing niche wine producers to guests with a curated wine pairing.

When hitting the dessert courses the rate of service decayed and dragged. Asking for the bill three times only added to the overall tainted experience of not being welcomed but intensified the feeling that we should be grateful to even come to the restaurant.

Beware you'll pay a lot and this doesn't necessarily make the evening amazing

Semplicemente: 3 stelle michelin.
Esperienza con menù degustazione. Personale ovviamente preparatissimo e gentilissimo. Pietanze mozzafiato e vini e champagne meravigliosi. Strabiliante.

Reposting this since it seems that it was hidden and it wasn’t visible to others...
There is nothing quite like being disappointed by food. This one really hurt my feelings.
The restaurant itself is very beautiful, but that’s as far as it got for me.
The water menu was hilariously pompous but happy to oblige.
We ordered à la carte.
The interaction with the sommelier was more than disappointing. When we asked questions about the different wine selections, instead of giving us any information, he just read the list of the bottles from the menu telling us” it is very good” at each bottle... no other information was given. We ended up ordering a 3 wines selection and I was hoping to have him select wines that would go with our dishes but my husband and I got the same wine even though we had very different dishes. I don’t know if it was laziness on the part of the sommelier or lack of effs to give.
I had the red prawns as a starter: ok but very nauseating after eating more than 2. I couldn’t finish it and my husband obliged.
Fusilli as first course: so incredibly salty. I should have sent it back and regret it.
Scorpion fish as main course: the fish itself was well cooked but the both was again so incredibly salty that it was hard to enjoy. I should have also sent it back.
Steamed merengue for desert: unimpressive. Did not taste the saffron whatsoever, don’t know if they forgot it...such a disappointment.

My husband loved his lamb dish, but overall, neither of us were impressed and much less blown away by this overall experience. This is such a let down... the best part of the meal were the extras that they served. The chocolates were quite good!
During our desert, my husband asked the sommelier if he could have another taste of the first wine that we were served and the sommelier said that they didn’t have any more bottles!!! I thought it was quite an audacious answer.
I don’t know how this restaurant has any Michelin stars. We wanted to have a experience of a lifetime but instead I’m still upset because of how disappointing I still feel regarding my experience.
It’s going to take me a while to emotionally get over this.

I am vegetarian and it’s hard to find restaurants that serve variety of vegetarian, forget Michelin star.
I wasn’t disappointed, delectable food, exceptional service, perfect ambience, feels almost like museum, but romantic. My favorite was the pasta, and the avacado - pistachio dish.
Only downside I see is wines were way expensive than we expected and we payed for the water.

We had a wonderful meal. Wonderful food. Great wine and good atmosphere. I was stunned when my husband (who is American) was presented with a very substantial bill and being told “it doesn’t include service”. When he asked what it meant he was told “it doesn’t include tip”. He knew real well in Italy tips aren’t customary but he felt guilty and left 15% extra $600. He isn’t a softy, if he felt guilty it is because his harm was twisted in doing so. I left earlier to go pick up my kids. Had I been there being Italian and all, I am not sure they would have dared. For a restaurant of this caliber this is a shame. Unfortunately I must say for a country of this caliber this is a shame. If a tip is expected and it’s not customary in the country, that should be said at the entrance. This is NOT a 3 star Michelin custom. I am ashamed - once again - of my own country.
Husband says “they made it sounds like there wasn’t anything there for the staff if I didn’t tip” Americans beware

If I could give 0 stars I would. There is no talent here whatsoever. Food came out disgusting every dish either too salty too sweet and plated by children. Service was mediocre which at a place like this is not good. Ambiance was like a bad paint job. Its like they got 3 stars and and gave up. This is one of the worst restaurants in Florence considering price. Absolute must avoid.
