In Piazza del Carmine, in the heart of Oltrarno, a restaurant with a nice decor for a typical Tuscan dinner.
It is one of the most renowned addresses in the city, and its reputation is well established, seducing Florentines and travelers alike. The place is clearly different from the classic trattoria. The decoration, in the French baroque style with a Provencal touch and details such as the beautiful authentic stone floor, gives it a particular cachet; all bathed in a warm atmosphere, with soft lighting, supported by some candles. The specialties of the house are of Tuscan tradition. Nice terrace. To discover.

Thirdly of course, the food came out really well. Excellent vegetarian options, alongside meat and fish. We had a mix, including some gorgeous pasta dishes, soup, and a pizza. All were remarkably good, and I’m inclined to say this might have been our favourite restaurant in Florence so far (not an easy decision in a city with so much wonderful food!).
When we were leaving, the owner was incredibly friendly and clearly very proud of the place he runs, and his staff. I really respect the dedication to running such a quality establishment, and I think a place like Trattoria Napoleone truly deserves all the five stars!!
