PALAZZO ALFIERI * * *
Family palace with terrace with renovated, spacious and decorated rooms
Very well located, a few steps from Ponte Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria, in the palace of the Gianfigliazzi family, the salons with their monumental high ceilings and the staircases are worth a stop. Watching the Arno River flowing from the window at bedtime and upon awakening is also a pleasure. The small table on the terrace at the end of the reception hall seems to overlook the river. Most of the renovated rooms are decorated with typical Florentine period furniture. Some of them are equipped with whirlpool bathtubs.

Taking off one star because there is a lot of notice heard from neighboring rooms, as the walls and floors are way too thin. Every day during our stay it sounded like someone was playing bocce ball in the room above ours. Check-in was not very smooth as it was not clear to us where the lobby was (it’s tucked in the back of a building, far from the actual entrance), and the bellhops were not really on top of things as we’d have to wait a long time or they’d leave before our taxi would arrive during check-out, leaving the baggage handling to us. Overall, I’d recommend this hotel if you want to stay near the super touristy Ponte Vecchio.
Do not recommend anyone to stay here.
We were unable to sleep during the stay as the room ventilator is so noisy. Despite telling the reception staff and calling the 24hr service line, they just simply ignored.
Rooms are dated. The shower floods and ponds because the drainage is clogged up. The air ventilation makes a ton of hissing sounds that prevents one from having a good night's sleep.
And what's worse? The staff can't be bothered. We approached front desk staff two times about the noise and each time they promised to send someone to the room (and were not apologetic at all in the slightest bit).
Guess what? Nobody came at all.
What use is staying at a swanky looking hotel if you can't even sleep well at night, and the staff treats you with disdain?
