TEMPIETTO DEL SANTO SEPOLCRO
Small temple realized by Leon Battista Alberti, first great theoretician of the arts of the Renaissance, in the Rucellai Chapel.
Elegant little temple of Leon Battista Alberti, installed in the Rucellai Chapel (inside the church of San Pancrazio where the Marino Marini Museum is located). Alberti, who came from an important Florentine family, was a dominant figure of the Renaissance. The beauty of his tempietto will leave no one unmoved. It is the tomb of Giovanni Rucellai (1475-1525), a Florentine merchant who wanted a reproduction of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem to rest in peace.
