GIARDINO BARDINI
A green place in the center of Florence, located between Costa San Giorgio and Borgo San Niccolò.
Everywhere, the Boboli Garden represents Florence. Everywhere, it is praised for its beauty... Yet the Bardini garden, on a hillside between the Costa San Giorgio and Borgo San Niccolò, deserves just as much attention for many reasons. First, because it is much better maintained. Although smaller (four hectares), it has nothing to envy Boboli in terms of panoramic views and other stunning views of Florence. There are many varieties of flowers and plants. A green place in the heart of the city centre, divided into three parts: the orchard to the east, the baroque staircase in the centre and the English garden to the west. You can see all the main monuments of the Tuscan capital, including the library which houses some six million books. Much less frequented than other gardens in the city, it is easier to find a small corner of privacy. It is possible to refresh yourself on the terrace of a café that overlooks the garden, thus offering a very beautiful view of Florence. The Bardini garden is named after the famous antique dealer, Stefano Bardini (1854-1922), who was the last owner.
In spring, the visit is all the more fascinating when the wisteria, but also the roses, azaleas and hydrangeas, are in bloom. For a country stroll! On the practical side, two accesses to the garden are possible (costa San Giorgio, 2 or via dei Bardi, 1r), and the entrance ticket (valid for one day) can be combined with the Boboli garden and the porcelain museum.
