PENSIONE BENCISTÀ
Hotel with terrace with rooms filled with antique furniture
There are dozens of villas overlooking the Tuscan countryside, but far fewer large houses, open to the public, overlooking Florence like Bencistà. Its construction, in the middle of a three-hectare park, began as early as the 14th century. A relative of the Medici family made it his main residence, and in 1927 it became a hotel, with rooms filled with antique furniture. The common areas are not without charm. In addition to the terrace overlooking Florence, it's pleasant to enjoy the small lounges or the garden a few meters below.

Put simply, this is the hotel to stay in when visiting Florence. I would like to give a special shout out to Giuseppe, the Maître d' in the Pensione Bencistà hotel restaurant. His wine choices were unparalleled in their excellence and his food recommendations exquisite. He is, in our humble opinion, Pensione Bencistà’s and perhaps even (move over, Michaelangelo and the Medicis) Florence’s greatest asset. I would ask the hotel to kindly provide a general email address, so I can get his contact details and invite him to stay with us in the UK. What a man.
In case you were wondering, the hotel cannot be above 3* as there is no TV in the rooms. If you need a TV when staying in a city as beautiful as Florence, you need to get out more. We will be back.
