Cathedral boasts an astonishing tombstone depicting Bishop Donato de' Medici
Construction of the Romanesque-Pisan cathedral began in 923. The interior features numerous paintings and sculptures, including a surprisingly realistic tombstone depicting Bishop Donato de' Medici on his deathbed. Also of interest is a precious solid silver altar in the right-hand chapel, with panels depicting the Old and New Testaments. In the crypt, the remains of a Roman villa and two carved marble plaques from the late 16thcentury .
