VIA DELLE VOLTE
Almost entirely vaulted street that used to allow you to go around the fortress on horseback
An almost entirely vaulted street (originally discovered), dating from the 14th and 15th centuries, which in the past was used to tour the fortress on horseback, and had both sacred and military functions. This round path is built along the ramparts of Castellina in Chianti. In the 16th century, loopholes were drilled through which one can now admire without fear the panorama of the surrounding hilly countryside. It is pleasant to stroll around, especially in summer, because it is so fresh and delicious.
