The Palio dell'Assunta is the other most famous major horse race in the world, along with the Palio di Provenzano, which is held on July 2. A grandiose show, a piazza del Campo transformed into a racecourse, an electric atmosphere and Sienese pride at stake! Make no mistake, seeing the crowd in fusion, we are far from a simple traditional celebration. The different districts of Siena, called "contrade", are preparing all year round for this supreme confrontation, which continues to this day with such authenticity.
