MUSEO DEL CRISTALLO
Museum exhibiting an interesting selection of crystal pieces in Colle di Val D'Elsa, Italy's crystal capital.
The Crystal Museum in Colle di Val d'Elsa displays an interesting selection of crystal pieces, produced from the Middle Ages to the present day, as well as the important history of the local glass industry. It is housed in an underground space in the area once occupied by one of the furnaces of the 19th-century crystal works and the Schmidt glassworks (formerly the Boschi glassworks). Production of the famous Colle di Val d'Elsa crystal, which became known as the "Italian Bohemia", now accounts for 95% of Italian production and 15% of world production.
