Eco-museum in a former convent exhibiting ancient and contemporary works of art in Voletrra
The Alabaster Eco-Museum, housed in a former convent, has three floors dedicated to the history of the work of alabaster, a very flexible white stone that can easily be shaped, a specialty of the region for centuries. It exhibits both ancient and contemporary works of art. You can also see the meticulous reconstruction of a workshop, with all the traditional tools necessary for the alabaster sculptor, as well as the beautiful collection of alabaster works by Giuseppe Viti, the city's main merchant in the 19th century.
