PINACOTECA
The masterpiece of Italian mannerism, of an incredible modernity, the Deposition from the Cross by Rosso Fiorentino
The Minucci Solaini Palace, with its 15th century civil architecture reflecting the change imposed on the city by the Florentines, houses the art gallery. Works of sacred art by Domenico Ghirlandaio, Taddeo di Bartolo, Luca Signorelli... Rosso Fiorentino's Deposition of the Cross (1521) is a masterpiece of Italian mannerism, of incredible modernity. It seems that the Deposition obsessed the artist since he painted three of them in his short life (1495-1540): that of Volterra, that of Borgo San Sepolcro and that of the Louvre, his ultimate work.
