This famous and impressive villa bears the imprint of Elisa Bonaparte, Princess of Lucca and sister of Napoleon.
The most famous and impressive of Marlia's villas, located in the centre of a large sixteen-hectare park, and bearing the imprint of Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi, Princess of Lucca and Napoleon's sister, who restructured it during the 19th century. This illustrious residence, located at the foot of the Pizzorne plateau, dates from the 17th century. It is possible to visit various period residences, such as the Gemelle palazzine, built by the architect Giovanni Lazzarini at the initiative of Napoleon's sister (building reopened in 2018 following extensive restoration work), the villa del Vescovo (16th century), adjacent to the Nymphaeum, the sacred place of the nymphs, also called "Grotta di Pan" because dedicated to the god Pan, and finally, the elegant palazzina dell'Orologio with its loggia (18th century).
The villa's park includes wonderful botanical gardens and architectural jewellery. The renovation begun in 2015 by the new owners began with the main buildings and was completed in 2018 with the gardens. The visit reserves many surprises, you will be overwhelmed by the beauty of the Italian and Spanish gardens, as well as the Lemon Garden (Giardino dei Limoni) where more than two hundred citrus plants grow. Fountains and water points decorate the gardens to give them a romantic touch.
