CHIESA SANTA MARIA DELLA PIEVE
A splendid Romanesque church with a facade featuring blind arcades and sculptures.
This church, located at the top of Corso Italia, is one of the symbols of Arezzo. A superb example of 12th-century Romanesque architecture, with a facade featuring 13th-century blind arcades. The latter is a marvel, with sculptures overhanging the main door. The campanile, nicknamed the "bell tower of a hundred holes", is adorned with forty geminated windows. The astonishingly sober wooden interior features Lorenzetti's famous Politico, a 14th-century polyptych.
