CHIESA SAN DOMENICO
Gothic church of the XIII century, famous for its superb Crucifix by Cimabue
Not far from the cathedral of Arezzo, on a pleasant little square planted with trees, on the north side of the fortification walls, stands this 13th century Gothic style church. Despite its relatively sober exterior appearance (unfinished facade), the Church of St. Dominic is renowned for preserving a superb Crucifix of Cimabue, one of the greatest masterpieces of Duecento art (13th century). Some frescos (13th-15th centuries) still adorn the walls, notably those of Spinello Aretino and Lorentino d'Andrea.
