MUSEO ARCHEOLOGICO NAZIONALE GAIO CILNIO MECENATE
Arezzo's archaeological museum exhibits unusual pieces from ancient private collections
As well as being fascinating, this museum overlooks the remains of a Roman amphitheatre that once held up to 10,000 spectators! On display are Etruscan and Roman artifacts, some of them unusual, from former private collections. On display is the famous "Euphronios crater", an Etruscan vase dating from 515 BC, decorated with scenes of Hercules in combat, and the extraordinary chrysography piece, a gold leaf incised and painted between two pieces of glass.
