The piazza Grande (or piazza Vasari) forms the heart of the old town. This is where the famous giostradel Saracino takes place. Here you will find medieval houses with crenellated towers and monuments as diverse as the Romanesque apse of the church of Santa Maria della Pieve, the Palazzo del Tribunale, the Palazzo di Fraternità combining Gothic and Renaissance styles, and the Loggiato del Vasari. All of them delimit this square, a unique architectural marvel in the shape of a trapezium with a sloping base. In the centre stands the sixteenth-century public fountain.

une de plus belles place médiévale d'Italie, même si inclinée (ce qui contribue à son charme). La pieve Santa Maria sur le coté contribue à la beauté architecturale de la place.

grande place en "double pente" , ce qui lui donne un effeft visuel bien particulier ! On reconnaît bien le lieu de tournage des scènes du film "La Vie est Belle".
L'ancienne ville vaut le détour !
