SANTUARIO SANTA MARIA DELLE GRAZIE
Sanctuary of the sixteenth century overlooking the piazza San Francesco in Sansepolcro.
A 16th century sanctuary overlooking Piazza San Francesco. The plaque at the entrance is surprising. The engraved skull calls out to eight others, carved into the church's wooden coffered ceiling. In the tabernacle is a painting of the Madonna delle Grazie by Raffaellino del Colle, painted in 1555 and particularly venerated by the inhabitants because, according to tradition, the Virgin's hands opened to put an end to a violent earthquake that struck the city in 1558.
